Only five Eredivisie players remain in the World Cup

The Eredivisie performed well at this year's World Cup, with 33 players representing their countries in football's biggest tournament. However, after the group stage, only five players are still in contention. With the elimination of several teams, the number of Eredivisie athletes remaining in the competition has decreased significantly.

The tournament, which started with 48 teams, saw 32 of them eliminated, equaling the number of participants in the last edition. As a result, many Eredivisie clubs are welcoming their players back. Only Sergiño Dest and Ricardo Pepi (both from the USA), Ismael Saibari and Anass Salah-Eddine (Morocco) and Mateo Chávez (Mexico) remain in the competition.

Clubs like PSV continue to be the main suppliers of players, with the majority of athletes who traveled from Eindhoven to the World Cup already eliminated. Other teams such as Feyenoord, Ajax, PEC Zwolle, Telstar, FC Volendam, NEC, FC Twente, FC Utrecht, Heracles Almelo and Sparta Rotterdam have already seen all of their representatives return home after the group stage.
