Butland is Hull's first reinforcement on their return to the Premier League
Jack Butland has joined Hull City as their first reinforcement following their return to the Premier League, joining from Rangers on a two-year deal.
Hull City have confirmed Jack Butland as their first reinforcement after returning to the Premier League. The goalkeeper, who arrives from Rangers, signed a two-year contract, with the option of another season, in a transfer worth around £3 million. Butland has started every game for Rangers in the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign, making 55 appearances in all competitions. Over his three seasons with the Old Firm side, he appeared in 157 games, winning the Scottish League Cup in his debut season and being named the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.
Now, Butland returns to the Premier League for the first time since playing for Crystal Palace between 2020 and 2023. "I'm really happy it's all sorted out and I'm really excited to be here," he told the club's media channels. "It's a huge challenge and a fantastic season ahead. The challenge is clear but exciting. Our first summer reinforcement is here. Jack Butland is a Tiger! The Premier League is the best league in the world and personally it's a great opportunity to be on the biggest stage again. I believe this is the level I can play at and I've done it before. As a club we have a huge challenge in the Premier League, not just to stay in the league but to really enjoy it and do our best. I can't wait to see the fans in a very exciting season for us as a club.
Hull sold their goalkeeper from last season, Ivor Pandur, to Rangers earlier this week in a deal said to have cost £6m. The Tigers are preparing for their first top-flight season in nine years and will open the campaign against Manchester United, where Butland spent time on loan in 2023.
