Excelsior agreed to sign Swedish striker Yacqub Finey, who was at GIF Sundsvall. He has signed until 2029 and has big ambitions in the new team.

Excelsior have just announced the signing of Yacqub Finey, a 22-year-old Swedish striker who arrives from GIF Sundsvall. The player signed a contract valid until mid-2029, with the possibility of extension for another year. Finey has Somali roots and is known for his height and technique, characteristics that were highlighted by the club. He described himself as a tall player but with good ball control and technical skills. In addition to playing as a center forward, Finey can also play on the sides of the field. He stood out in the youth teams at IFK Göteborg and, since 2024, has been at GIF Sundsvall. "I had a great impression talking to Mark Ruijl, Excelsior's technical director. Dutch football suits me well, and many Swedish players have developed here and had brilliant careers. I have big ambitions, which align with the values of this club," said Finey via Excelsior's official channels.
