Frenkie de Jong is doubtful for Netherlands game against Sweden

The Netherlands team could face a big challenge in their second match in the group stage of the World Cup. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong is considered a "yellow light" after suffering a collision with Quinten Timber during training, which left him with some physical complaints. The information was confirmed by coach Ronald Koeman at a press conference.

Koeman was asked about his players' availability and revealed that Timber will not be able to play due to a mild concussion resulting from an impact in training. "The collision with Quinten also brought minor complaints for Frenkie," said Koeman.


The coach explained that De Jong was able to train most of the time, but the team is still evaluating the player's response. “He is a doubt,” added the coach.

Frenkie played fully in the match against Japan last Sunday, but later developed physical problems during training. He had already dealt with a thigh injury in the spring, which caused him to miss several games for Barcelona. Since then, he has become an important player for the national team, starting in his third consecutive match. However, it is still unclear whether he will be on the field against Sweden.

Koeman did not go into much detail about the nature of De Jong's injury, other than to mention that "it is below the waist". He explained that Timber fell on Frenkie, but avoided delving into the subject further, stating, "I can't say everything, but I think I've said a lot..."
