Gianni Infantino says Trump will be at the World Cup final to present the trophy
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Donald Trump will be at the 2026 World Cup final to present the trophy to the winners, following his absence from other games in the tournament.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed this Tuesday that President Donald Trump will attend at least one match of the 2026 World Cup — the final. Infantino shared in an interview with Fox & Friends that he and Trump will be present at the final match to present the World Cup trophy to the winning team. "We will be together with the president enjoying the final and presenting the trophy to the winner, of course," said Infantino. To date, Trump has not attended tournament games, including the U.S. men's national team's opening match against Paraguay and subsequent clash with Australia. Before the start of the tournament, Trump contacted the U.S. team, stating, "I think you have a good chance of going far," according to The Athletic. Infantino and Trump, who have met on other occasions, are allies, and the FIFA president even awarded Trump with the newly created World Peace Prize, after the president did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Infantino's appearance on Fox News came a day after The Telegraph published a story about Trump's absence from the tournament. The head of Trump's World Cup task force, Andrew Giuliani, commented that the president has not yet made appearances because he wants to keep people curious. "He likes to keep people watching, so all I can say is, 'Stay tuned,' and I'm excited to see what the next steps are," he said. During the presentation of the Club World Cup trophy, Trump attracted attention by remaining on stage with Chelsea players, after presenting the award at MetLife Stadium. "I was told he was going to present the trophy and then walk off the stage," Chelsea player Reece James said, according to the BBC. "I thought he would leave the stage, but he wanted to stay.",
