Hakimi will be tried for sexual violence: "I feel like a victim of notoriety"
Achraf Hakimi, who is competing in the 2026 World Cup with Morocco, was accused of sexual violence and declared on social media that he feels like a victim of fame.
The Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will be tried at the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court, accused of sexual violence. This decision comes as the player prepares to compete in the 2026 World Cup with the Morocco national team.
Hakimi, in a delicate situation, decided to speak out publicly on social media, despite recommendations from his lawyer to remain silent. In a long message shared on Twitter, he said: "The court looked me in the eye and said: 'If I weren't famous, there would never be a case'."

The defender highlighted that, for years, he chose silence and discretion while awaiting the conclusion of the investigations. "I believed that maintaining dignity, being patient and trusting in justice would lead to the right decisions," he explained. He also expressed his frustration with the narrative being created around him: "A story that is not mine is being told, damaging my family, my life and, most importantly, the truth. Sometimes I feel like I have become an easy target."
Hakimi ended his statement by saying that he is eagerly awaiting the trial: "I have waited for this process since day one. Now, I wait even longer. I will finally be able to speak."
