The case involving player Folarin Balogun continues to generate worldwide repercussions and undermine the credibility of the World Cup. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, admitted that he made a call to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, requesting a review of the suspension imposed on the American national team striker. Infantino, in an interview, confirmed the conversation and highlighted that he frequently discusses issues related to the World Cup with political leaders from around the world. "Yes, I regularly speak about FIFA World Cup issues with the President of the United States. I received a call from President Donald Trump and, just as I receive calls from other heads of state, government representatives and football stakeholders on various issues. During our conversation, I explained that there was an ongoing process involving FIFA's independent judicial bodies, and that the decision would be taken at the appropriate time by the competent bodies. That's how the FIFA system works, and that's a principle I will always defend," said Infantino. Defending his position, the FIFA President commented on the Disciplinary Committee's decision regarding Balogun's suspension: "I have read the public comments regarding the decision. I want to reaffirm a fundamental principle of FIFA governance: FIFA's judicial bodies are independent. They act autonomously, apply the FIFA Disciplinary Code and make decisions based on applicable standards and the specific facts presented to them. Their independence is essential to the credibility and integrity of football, and this must always be respected." Gianni Infantino also made a point of defending the Disciplinary Committee: "I read the Committee's decisions when they are issued. Sometimes they surprise me. Sometimes I agree with them; other times, no. However, I always respect these decisions and the autonomy of the bodies that make them. Whether we like a decision or not is irrelevant. Respect for independent institutions and compliance with the law is what protects the integrity of our competitions and FIFA's credibility at all times." concluded the FIFA President. This statement strengthens FIFA's position in ensuring that disciplinary decisions are taken fairly and impartially, even amid external pressure. --- ## Related Articles 1.
