This Tuesday (16), Joshua Kimmich, captain of the Germany national team, revealed that a poisonous snake appeared at the European team's training center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the United States. In a press conference, the Bayern Munich midfielder detailed the unusual situation and said that the players and the coaching staff were warned about the health risks that the animal poses. "We saw a snake yesterday and were told it was poisonous. If you get bitten, you need to go to the hospital. I don't think you would die, but it's certainly dangerous. I have a feeling that if you step on one of those snakes, things could end very badly. So we're trying to stay away from the snakes here. I have respect for the people who live here. In Germany, I have the impression that there aren't that many dangerous animals." According to the German press, the venomous snake is believed to be a copper viper, a common species in the region that, although it rarely causes deaths with its bite, requires immediate medical treatment. The German Football Federation did not announce specific measures in relation to the situation and, according to the Bild newspaper, there was no change in the team's routine. Austria, which also deals with snakes in the region where it is based, banned players from using bicycles on the training ground to reduce the risk of encountering the venomous animal. Leader of Group E with three points, after a 7-1 thrashing of Curaçao in their debut, Germany will face Ivory Coast next Saturday (20) in Toronto, Canada. The Africans also have three points, but a lower goal difference, as they only beat Ecuador 1-0.
