The objective was to avoid surgery, as the injury was minimal and didn't hurt me on a daily basis, but to compete in LaLiga, I needed to be in better condition. Every week was a lesson; I thought I was fine, but I wasn't", says the player. After the first operation, he was optimistic about being pain-free, but was soon surprised by fevers and swelling in his knee, indicating a new infection. "It was one blow after another, and recovery became increasingly difficult. With each new attempt, everything seemed to get worse", he laments. Despite the challenges, Rupérez always tried to maintain a positive attitude. "I have always been grateful for having access to physiotherapists and professionals who helped me with my recovery. I could have been in a worse situation, and for that reason, I value every little step I take towards recovery. Being close to the group, even without being able to train, made me feel part of the team", he explains. He admits that the weekends were particularly difficult, as the desire to play was strong. "I suffered a lot from the stands, but I always tried to have a positive attitude,knowing that control was in my emotions and reactions. The support of my colleagues, including the captains, was fundamental", he says. After a year marked by ups and downs, Rupérez reflects on what he learned. "Despite the difficulties, I managed to return to training and feel that I was almost ready to play again. The team went through a difficult year, but the victory in the Copa del Rey brought relief and hope to all of us", he highlights. "I'm excited for next season and I hope to be able to play in Anoeta, where I always dreamed of being. Hearing the anthems of Europe and competing at a high level is something we all want.
