Liverpool give green light to Adam Wharton as talks begin with England midfielder
Liverpool are undergoing major changes to their midfield, with the possible departures of Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones. The club is in talks with Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton to strengthen its squad.
Significant changes are about to happen to Liverpool's midfield this season. Alexis Mac Allister is among the players who could leave the club due to their uncertain contract situation. To date, Liverpool have not started talks over a new contract with Argentina's FIFA World Cup winner, whose current deal expires in 2028. If there is no new deal, selling the 27-year-old could become a viable option.

Curtis Jones is also close to a move to Inter Milan. Talks are ongoing for the 25-year-old midfielder, even though the two teams have not yet reached a consensus on the player's valuation. If one or more of Liverpool's current midfielders ends up leaving, the need for quality reinforcements will become even more urgent this season.
Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes are evaluating a number of midfield targets, including Bournemouth's Alex Scott and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton. Recently, a report indicated that negotiations with Wharton over the terms of a potential summer contract have begun. Liverpool remain one of the player's biggest admirers and have held talks with his agent in recent weeks as they assess options to strengthen Andoni Iraola's midfield. Wharton has been outstanding since leaving Blackburn to join Crystal Palace in 2024.
