Louis van Gaal steps down as Ajax advisor
Louis van Gaal has stepped down as advisor to Ajax's supervisory board, communicating his decision to the club's board of directors.

Louis van Gaal has resigned as advisor to Ajax's supervisory board, as announced on the club's official website. The coach has acted as an external advisor on football matters since October 2023, having been invited to help occupy key positions after a series of changes in the board. "Michaël van Praag is a friend of mine, and we have worked well together in the past. As chairman of the supervisory board, he approached me in 2023, and I was happy to help him and Ajax. At that time, there were many changes in key positions and a lack of football expertise. As an external advisor, I played a role in the signings of Alex Kross and Marrein Bökker. But Michaël left in 2025, Alex left the club, and Now Marrein has also left. For me, the time has come to leave too", said Van Gaal in an interview with the Ajax press service. Ajax's supervisory board expressed sadness at Van Gaal's decision, but showed understanding and expressed gratitude for the work done.
