Morocco beats Haiti and advances as vice-leader
Morocco defeated Haiti 4-2 in an exciting match, guaranteeing their place in the next phase of the World Cup, even though they did not finish at the top of the group.
Morocco and Haiti played an electrifying duel, with the African team winning 4-2 and guaranteeing their qualification for the next phase of the 2026 World Cup. The game, held in Atlanta, was marked by twists and turns and a vibrant atmosphere in the stands.
The Haitians, who already had a difficult record in the competition, started well and opened the scoring with a goal from Lenny Joseph, which, however, was credited as an own goal by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. This marked Haiti's first World Cup goal in 52 years, but Joseph was unable to celebrate as he became the second player in the team's history to score at a World Cup.

Morocco, known for its collective strength, was quick to respond. Achraf Hakimi equalized the game in the first half, taking advantage of a mistake by Haitian goalkeeper Johny Placide. Wilson Isidor put Haiti back in front with a fine goal from outside the box, but Ismael Saibari scored his third goal of the tournament to equalize before half-time.
In the second half, Soufiane Rahimi came on as a substitute and, in his first appearance, scored a goal that broke the tie. Yassine, in a moment of opportunism, scored the fourth goal for Morocco, guaranteeing the victory and passage to the knockout stage.
The atmosphere in the stadium was indescribable, with fans of both teams singing and supporting their teams. Although Haiti was eliminated and finished last in Group C, the fans put on a great show and supported the team until the end. Morocco, in turn, is now preparing to face one of the strongest opponents, such as the Netherlands, Japan or Sweden, in the next phase, scheduled for the Monterrey Stadium on June 30th.
