Argentine national team striker Lionel Messi shone on the field when he scored a hat-trick in Argentina's 3-0 victory over Algeria in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. In a press conference after the game, Messi spoke about the similarities he sees between himself and the iconic Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal.
"I love playing football, it's been my passion since childhood. And when I feel good, I give my all. We're watching a documentary about Rafael Nadal and I see a lot of similarities between us. I think we're very similar in that sense; I always want to give my all and that brings me pleasure. As long as I can do that, I'll continue," said Messi, reflecting on his career and his love for the sport.
