French Sports Minister talks about talismans for national team players: she wanted to send a sign of friendship
The French Minister of Sports, Maria Ferrari, revealed the reason why she presented the national team's players with talismans before the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing the symbolism of friendship and luck.

The French Minister of Sports, Maria Ferrari, explained why she decided to present the national team players with talismans before the 2026 World Cup. In a symbolic gesture, the minister, together with President Emmanuel Macron, gave each player two stones — one made of blue jasper and the other made of rock crystal.

"It was funny to see how everyone reacted to it. I just wanted to send them a personal sign of friendship, a little lucky talisman. These stars — one blue and one white — promise a red one if they bring the third star to our jersey. Everyone dreams about it. It's a wonderful symbol. In Japan, there is a tradition of giving a lucky star — that was the message behind it," Ferrari told RMC Sport.
After the first two games of the tournament, France has six points and occupies first place in group I. In the last game of the group stage, the team will face Norway on June 26th.
