Felix Zwayer made his World Cup debut as a referee in an intense match between hosts USA and Australia. The only German official at the tournament had to deal with a very aggressive approach from both teams, which demanded a lot from him during the game. In total, Zwayer handed out seven yellow cards, the most so far at this World Cup. With the intensity of the game, it is no surprise that the 45-year-old referee suffered cramps towards the end of the match. First, Australian player Alessandro Circati helped him stretch, then it was assistant Christian Dietz's turn. To top it off, fourth referee Katia Garcia also brought some electrolytes, receiving applause from the fans.
