US concerns before the World Cup game against Bosnia
The United States men's national team is facing a worrying trend as it prepares for its World Cup round of 32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, having lost its last 10 matches against UEFA teams.

Things couldn't have gone better for the United States men's team in the group stage. They secured first place in Group D with a victory in the second game — beating Paraguay and Australia — and finished their third and final game against Turkey on Thursday without injuries or serious suspensions. But there is one area of concern that remains for the United States ahead of its round of 32 clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, July 1 at Los Angeles Stadium. This issue arose again in the American team's defeat against Turkey in the group stage. With Thursday's 3-2 loss to Turkey, the United States extended its losing streak against UEFA opponents to 10 games and its winless streak to 12 games. The overall record against UEFA teams in the last 12 games is 0 wins, 2 draws and 10 losses. Despite his experience in Europe, managing Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, US coach Mauricio Pochettino has not been the solution to the team's problems against UEFA sides. The USA have lost all six of their matches against European opponents under Pochettino, scoring just six goals and conceding 18. The results of these matches are: 2026: Portugal 2, USA 0 (Friendly) June 6, 2026: Germany 2, USA 1 (Friendly) June 25, 2026: Turkey 3, USA 2 (Group D). The USA have not beaten a UEFA opponent since December 2021. The opponent? Bosnia and Herzegovina — the same team the USA will face in the round of 32 stage. Bosnia and Herzegovina are also the lowest-ranked UEFA team the USA have faced under Pochettino, with a rating of 62. The previous lowest was Turkey (32), and the highest was Portugal (8).
