Tuchel chooses ex-PSV Madueke over Saka for England's World Cup debut

Noni Madueke surprisingly starts for England in the first World Cup duel against Croatia. The Arsenal striker was chosen to replace his teammate, Bukayo Saka, who is not fully fit to play. Madueke, who was often behind Saka in coaching choices, now has the trust of Thomas Tuchel. Saka's physical condition was already a concern, and ended up being decisive for his absence from the starting lineup.
Another question was whether Jude Bellingham or Morgan Rogers would start as an attacking midfielder, and the decision was made by Galactico Bellingham. He will be supported by Elliott Anderson and Declan Rice, with Anthony Gordon and Madueke on the wings. Top scorer Harry Kane, of course, is the reference in attack.
In defense, the choice of Ezri Konsa to form the central duo with John Stones was surprising, leaving Marc Guéhi on the bench, despite having been Pep Guardiola's favorite at Manchester City. Nico O'Reilly and Reece James occupy the wings.
