Tuchel talks about supporting England players after victory
Thomas Tuchel supported the England players after a tense game against Croatia at the 2026 World Cup, where the team won 4-2.

England national team coach Thomas Tuchel commented on the support he gave his team after their first game at the 2026 World Cup, which took place against Croatia. During the match, the English opened the scoreboard twice, but the Croatians managed to equalize on both occasions, taking the game to half-time with a score of 2-2. However, in the second half, with goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford, England secured a 4-2 victory.

"I gave them some time to be alone and asked them to calm down. We had just conceded a goal, so it was necessary to remain calm, ease the tension and encourage them to play their way. I told them that my perception of them and the last 17 days would not change, regardless of the result, but that I wanted them to play their way — our way — by being bold, courageous, determined and united in pursuit of the goal. If they think it helped, it is still better. The most important thing was to encourage them and say that we trust them — there is nothing to fear," Tuchel told ESPN.
In the next group stage games, England will face Ghana on June 23rd and Panama on June 28th.
