Dombrandt injury sidelines him for a long period
Harlequins captain Alex Dombrandt will be sidelined for a long period with a serious knee injury he suffered during an international match against France.
England number eight Alex Dombrandt faces an "extended period" on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury during the international match against France last Friday. The 29-year-old Harlequins captain suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a summer friendly, which England lost 35-19.
A club statement said: "Alex will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days, before undergoing surgery and then beginning rehabilitation with the club's medical team. He is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of the 2026-27 season." Dombrandt had been named in England's training squad for the upcoming Nations Championship, but was cut from the final 36-man squad due to injury. He scored 10 tries in 21 games last season for Harlequins in a difficult campaign for the London club, who finished ninth in the Premiership table. Harlequins will be without their captain for much of next season as they try to find their feet.
