Lyon shows interest in problematic Juventus player Openda
Lyon are keeping an eye on Lois Openda, who did not perform well at Juventus. The expectation is that the Italian club will reformulate its attack and negotiate the athlete in the near future.

Recent reports claim that Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais have shown interest in offering a new home to Lois Openda, the Juventus striker who has become a difficult asset to trade. Juventus must revamp their attacking sector during the summer transfer window: Dusan Vlahovic's contract expires at the end of June and the other available strikers, Openda, Jonathan David and Arkadiusz Milik, have combined to score just seven league goals in the 2026-27 season. Openda was possibly the biggest disappointment of Juve's 2025 summer transfer window. The Belgian, who will not be at the 2026 World Cup, has scored just one goal in 24 Serie A appearances this season despite signing on loan with an obligation to buy, a total deal worth €44 million. With the obligation to buy included, Openda was Serie A's most expensive signing in the summer of 2025. Given his form and the amount spent by Juventus on his signature, as well as a contract that runs until the summer of 2030, selling Openda permanently this summer is unlikely to be an easy task. Meanwhile, according to recent updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, there is still interest in Openda across Europe, especially from Lyon. Di Marzio claims that Lyon have expressed interest in signing Openda, as have Eintracht Frankfurt, Monaco and Nottingham Forest, albeit to a lesser extent. Formal talks have not yet taken place, but it is expected that if Lyon progress in negotiations with Juventus, the two clubs will discuss a loan agreement with obligation or, more likely, an option to buy.
