Ronaldinho will return to active football at the age of 44, playing for Ravenna FC, an Italian Serie C club. The star's official presentation is scheduled for June 23 in Miami, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. "New colors, the same smile," said the player in comments published by the newspaper. "I can't wait to dance with the ball again and write a new story together with Ignazio and the entire Cipriani family. Football has always been a source of joy for me and I want to bring that same spirit to Ravenna," he added. The Brazilian has not competed since September 26, 2015, when he last played for Fluminense, that is, almost eleven years away from the field. In his professional career, Ronaldinho played 647 matches, scoring 235 goals and providing 181 assists. The plan, according to La Gazzetta, is for the legend to be available from the start of pre-season in July, with the official presentation of the squad scheduled for August. But is this just a marketing ploy? Ronaldinho will be unveiled in Miami at an event that will also present Ravenna's new kits. It is not yet known whether his participation will be restricted to this, whether he will become a shareholder in Ravenna or even whether he will play in the third division. However, the club's vice-president, Ariedo Braida, confirmed the signing to ANSA, but left open the question everyone is asking: "He is a timeless, unique champion. We will sign him, and for a club like ours, it is an extraordinary coup." Regarding the possibility of him actually playing, Braida didn't rule it out: "We'll see, but it's not out of the question." The signing reflects the ambition of Ignazio Cipriani, the club's owner and heir to the family that founded the famous Harry's Bar in Venice, who spent months building a relationship with the Brazilian star. Cipriani bought Ravenna two seasons ago with the aim of gaining access to Serie B, a goal that slipped in his last campaign.
